Animal Alphabet

In a bid to be a good parent and encourage my baby boy (who was quite small at the time) to look at pictures, and begin to recognise animals, I drew this wall chart of alphabetised animals. It was inspired by a similar alphabet I had seen once (I’m afraid I can’t acknowledge the artist as I never knew who did it).  It’s been enjoyed a lot but should really be updated as I’d used British animals/mammals/birds (where I could) but actually ‘g’ should only ever be represented by a giraffe and ‘k’ should be a kangaroo. Who knew?  I thought ‘local’ – but my 2 year old is much more expansive and thinks ‘global’…

An origami menagerie

Ahhhh, the magic of paper folding…

This was a request from a friend who had recently had a baby and wanted to give them a brightly coloured mobile to stimulate and encourage their baby’s vision.
To personalise it I printed my own paper with designs incorporating the baby’s initials. I tried to be fairly close to nature with the colourings and patterns.
